What to do if your Zodiac Baracuda Mx8 is not working?

If your Zodiac Baracuda MX8 suction-side pool cleaner is not operating correctly, begin by checking the power supply to ensure that the issue isn’t related to the electrical source. Confirm that the power supply unit for the pool pump is plugged into a working outlet and that the pool’s filtration system is running, as the MX8 relies on the pump’s suction. If these steps do not resolve the issue, turn off the pool pump, wait 30 seconds, and then turn it back on.

Should the Zodiac Baracuda MX8 still fail to move or if it is not cleaning effectively, make sure that the hoses are properly connected and not tangled or blocked. If the cleaner is in the water and still not operational, disconnect it from the hose and check for any debris that may be clogging the diaphragm or obstructing the flow keeper valve. Additionally, inspect the tracks and the engine for any blockages or wear that might be impeding movement.

Following these troubleshooting steps should help resolve most issues with the Zodiac Baracuda MX8 suction-side pool cleaner. If the problem persists, refer to the user manual for more specific troubleshooting information or contact Zodiac’s customer support for additional assistance.

What Should I Do If the Zodiac Baracuda MX8 Cleaner Does Not Move or Moves Slowly?

If your Zodiac Baracuda MX8 cleaner is not moving or is moving slowly, start by ensuring that the main drain is closed. An open drain can restrict the cleaner’s movement. Check the wheel speed to determine the proper flow, and refer to the “Check for Proper Flow” section for guidance. Inspect the tracks for worn interior teeth, and if necessary, contact your dealer for replacement tracks. Backwash the pool filter and empty the pump basket to remove any debris. Look for debris that may be jammed in the engine and consult the “Remove Debris from Engine” section for instructions. For the MX8 or MX8 Elite models, switch the cleaner to large debris cleaning mode as described in the “MX8/MX8 Elite Cleaner Vacuum Modes” section. Also, check for air in the system, which is indicated by a dropping water level in the pump basket or excessive air bubbles. Secure all hose connections, tighten pump fittings, and inspect the o-ring for wear. Lastly, ensure that the flow regulator valve can move freely with the water flow.

  1. Zodiac MX8 Clicking noise

I have had my MX8 for 9 years and replaced the gearboxes and other parts several times, including all bearings and the 2 scrubbers just a few months ago.

I have just installed all of the parts from the “tune up kit” but still I can hear a clicking noise from the MX8 as I hold it just under water. If I drop it to the pool floor, then the scrubbers rotate just once and then need a finger push to get them past the cause of the click and then to rotate just once more.

Having replaced everything only recently, I am stuck as to the cause of the problem.

    Any thoughts please?
