The Shark NV830 Series is not picking up debris. No suction or light suction

Solution:

  • Check filters to see if they need cleaning. Follow the instructions for rinsing and drying the filters before reinserting in the vacuum.
  • Dust cup may be full; empty dust cup.
  • Check hose, connections, wand, nozzle, and accessories for blockages; clear blockages if required.

Solution:

  • Turn off the unit to disengage the brushrolls. Be sure to select the Thick Carpet/Area Rug set.
  • Suction is powerful. Take care when vacuuming area rugs or rugs with delicately sewn edges

The Shark NV830 Series Brushroll and/or Soft Roller does not spin or the Brushroll Indicator Light turns red.

Solution:

  • Turn off the vacuum, and move it away from any obstruction. Turn on the vacuum and tilt the handle back to activate the brush roll.
  • Make sure the brush roll garage lid is firmly locked into position on both sides.
  • If the Brushroll Indicator Light on the floor nozzle remains red, turn off the vacuum and unplug it. Disconnect the nozzle and remove any blockages. Make sure the brush roll garage lid is firmly locked into position on both sides. Plug in the vacuum, turn on the power, and tilt the handle back to activate the brush roll. If the Brushroll Indicator Light isn’t green and the headlights are flashing, check again that both sides of the lid are locked in place.

    1. Turn the vacuum off and unplug it.
    2. Empty the dust cup and clean the filters (see Emptying the Dust Cup and Cleaning the Filters).
    3. Check for blockages in the hose, accessories, and inlet openings.
    4. Allow the unit to cool for a minimum of 45 minutes.

  1. Well as I kid I was obsessed with “The Brave Little Toaster.” Well that being said I was so tremendously attached to my shark NV831. It was the first vacuum that did it’s job. It was a gift from my father, and I was so excited that I actually had a vacuum that worked from years of using quantity vacuums, not quality. Won’t name any names but now it looks like I could open up a shark parts store, and the green light still Will not turn on. I’m so bummed out. It was probably broken by one of my children, or from years and years of use. I’ll never know.
