The Shark NV400 Series is not picking up debris. No suction or light suction
Solution:
- Check filters to see if they need cleaning. Follow the instructions for rinsing and drying the filters before reinserting in the vacuum.
- Dust cup may be full; empty dust cup.
- Check hose, connections, wand, nozzle, and accessories for blockages; clear blockages if required.
- Remove any string, carpet fibers, or hair that may be wrapped around the brush rolls
The Shark NV400 Series lifts area rugs
Solution:
- Turn off the unit to disengage the brush roll. Ensure the brush roll is turned off and restart with the POWER button for suction-only cleaning.
- Suction is powerful. Take care when vacuuming area rugs or rugs with delicately sewn edges.
- To minimize suction, refer to the Suction Control section for more information
The Shark NV400 Series Brushroll does not spin.
Solution:
- If the Brushroll Indicator Light on the floor nozzle turns red, the brush roll has stopped spinning. Immediately turn off and unplug the vacuum, disconnect the nozzle, and remove the blockage before reconnecting and turning the vacuum back on.
- With the power on, recline the handle, which will automatically turn on the brush roll.
- Ensure that the brush roll button is on
The Shark NV400 Series turns off on its own or the indicator light flashes red
Solution:
- This vacuum is equipped with a motor-protective thermostat. The thermostat will automatically turn the suction motor off if your vacuum overheats. Perform the following steps to restart the thermostat:
- Turn the vacuum off and unplug it.
- Empty the dust cup and clean the filters (see Maintenance section).
- Check for blockages in the hose, accessories, and inlet openings.
- Allow the unit to cool for a minimum of 45 minutes.
- Plug in a vacuum and turn it on.
- Restart the unit using either the POWER or BRUSHROLL buttons.
