Shark NV30 Series Troubleshooting

The Shark NV30 Series won’t run

Cause Solution
  •  Not properly plugged into the wall outlet
  • Plug in firmly
  • No electricity in the wall outlet.
  • Reset the circuit breaker or replace the fuse
  • The On/Off switch is not turned on
  • Push the on/off switch to on
  • Motor thermostat tripped
  • Reset motor thermostat

The Shark NV30 Series won’t pick up

Cause Solution
  • Full or clogged dust cup
  • Clean dust cup
  • Wrong pile height setting
  • Adjust setting
  • Clogged air path
  •  Remove obstruction
  • Clogged hose
  • Remove obstruction
  • Broken belt(s).
  • Replace belt(s)
  • Hose not inserted fully
  • Push hose in securely
  •  Dirty filters.
  • Clean / change filters
  • The debris screen needs cleaning.
  • Clean debris screen.

The Shark NV30 Series picks up moveable rugs or pushes too hard

Cause Solution
  • Wrong pile height setting
  • Adjust setting

The Shark NV30 Series agitator does not turn

Cause Solution
  •  Broken belt(s)
  • Replace belt(s).
  • Belt(s) installed incorrectly
  • Check belt changing


The Shark NV30 Series air flow restricted with attachment use sound changes

Cause Solution
  • Attachment use restricts airflow
  • Check attachment
  • New carpet debris clogging the air path
  • Remove obstruction.

Shark NV30 Series Vacuum Cleaner Problems

Below are common issues and solutions for the Shark NV30 Series:

The Shark NV30 Series Clearing the Handle

Solution:

  • Never insert sharp objects into an opening to clear it. To check airflow, plug the unit in and check for suction at the end of the handle.
    • Unplug the unit and remove the handle to check for any blockage.

    • Clear the blockage from the opening of the handle. (Fig. 44)
    • Remove the telescopic wand and verify that it is clear by holding it up to the light to see if there is any debris blocking it.
    • After all the blockages have been removed, replace the handle and the telescopic wand with the vacuum. Plug in the unit and resume vacuuming.

The Shark NV30 Series Clearing the Dust Cup Air Duct

Solution:

  • Never insert sharp objects into an opening to clear it. To check airflow, plug the unit in and check for suction at the end of the handle.
    •  Unplug the vacuum.
    • Check the fullness of the dust cup, if full, remove and empty the dust cup.

    • Check the air duct behind the dust cup for any blockage. (Fig. 45)
    • Clear the blockage from the air duct and replace the dust cup. Never insert sharp objects into an opening to clear.
    • Plug in the unit and resume vacuuming.

 

The Shark NV30 Series Clearing the Intake Opening Behind the Brush Roll

Solution:

  • There is an intake opening behind the brush roll underneath the unit where debris may collect, reducing suction. To clear this opening:
    • 1. Unplug the unit and lay the vacuum flat on the floor upside down.

    • Check to see if there is a clog just behind the brush roll. (Fig. 46)
    • Clear the blockage from this opening. Never insert sharp objects into the opening to clean.
    • Check the brush roll to see if there are any threads or other debris wrapped around it. Using a scissor, carefully cut any debris that is blocking the bristles.
    • Plug the unit in, to continue vacuuming.
