The Shark HV166 Series will not operate

Cause Solution
  •  Batteries discharged
  • Charge unit
  •  Dead battery (battery won’t hold charge)
  • Replace batteries
  • The contacts between the unit and the charging stand are dirty
  • Check the fuse or breaker. Replace fuse/reset breaker
  • No power in the electrical outlet supplying the transformer
  • Check the fuse or breaker. Replace fuse/reset breaker

The Shark HV166 Series motorized brush will not work

Cause Solution
  • The 2 metal pins of the motorized brush are not in contact with the vacuum cleaner
  • Firmly insert the motorized brush into the air-intake nozzle. This will connect the motorized nozzle to the unit power supply
  • The motorized brush is clogged up.
  • Remove all lint, hair, etc. from the motorized brush

The hand Shark HV166 Series will not pick up or suction power is weak

Cause Solution
  • The dust cup container is full
  • Empty dust cup container
  • The dust cup filter needs cleaning or replacement
  • Remove the dust cup filter and check for the object(s) in the air duct and remove. Clean or replace the dust cup filter
  •  Unit needs recharging
  • Charge unit

Dust escaping from hand Shark HV166 Series

Cause Solution
  •  The dust cup container is full
  •  Empty dust cup container
  •  The dust cup filter is not installed correctly
  •  Review dust cup filter installation instructions
  • Puncture/hole in dust cup filter
  • Replace the dust cup filter

Hand Shark HV166 Series hose or brushes will not pick up.

Cause Solution
  • Hose clogged
  • Remove the hose and/or bushes. Remove obstruction from a hose
  • The dust cup is full.
  • Empty and clean the dust cup.
