The Polaris Quattro P40 Sport Hose assembly becomes tangled.
Solution:
- Remeasure the hose to verify that it is adjusted to the proper length for the pool shape.
- With the cleaner operating, check that the hose swivels and the hose connections turn freely.
- Ensure the hose is floating and the hose floats are positioned properly. Position the first float (k) up against the feed hose connector (j) and then space hose floats 1-3 ft (30-90 cm) apart.
- Check the wheel RPM. Target wheel speed is 28-32 RPM. If wheel speed is not in target range, refer to Section 7 Adjust Wheel Speed.
- Straighten the hose assembly by laying it out flat in the sun.
The Polaris Quattro P40 Sport Cleaner hangs up on steps or other obstacles for longer than 3 minutes.
Solution:
- Check the wheel RPM. Target wheel speed is 28-32 RPM. If wheel speed is not in target range, refer to Section 7 Adjust Wheel Speed.
- Check for debris in the filter canister and clean, if necessary.
- Ensure the hose is floating and the hose floats are positioned properly. Position the first float (k) up against the feed hose connector (j) and then space hose floats 1-3 ft (30-90 cm) apart.
- Adjust the thrust jet. Refer to Section 8 Fine Tuning.
- Remove unnecessary pool hardware or install a Ladder Guard Kit (part # G21) from a Polaris® dealer.
- Install a Back-Up Valve accessory (part # G62, black or part # G52, white) from a Polaris dealer. Additional hose nuts and swivel may be required. Position the back-up valve and its adjacent hose float 6-8 ft (1.8 – 2.4m) away from the cleaner.
The Polaris Quattro P40 Sport Thrust jet sprays too much water out of pool.
Solution:
- Check the thrust jet position and adjust thrust jet flow, if necessary. Refer to Section 8 Fine Tuning.
The Polaris Quattro P40 Sport Cleaner does not clean the entire pool.
Solution:
- 1. Ensure the hose length is adjusted to the proper length for the pool shape. Refer to Section 3 Adjust Hose Length.
- Adjust the thrust jet to improve coverage. Refer to Section 8 Fine Tuning.
The Polaris Quattro P40 Sport Cleaner is sluggish, running with less power than normal or not moving
Solution:
- Check the wheel RPM. Target wheel speed is 28-32 RPM. If wheel speed is not in target range, refer to Section 7 Adjust Wheel Speed.
- Check for debris in the filter canister and clean, if necessary.
- Check the filter screen and the in-line filter and clean, if necessary.
- Clean the skimmer basket, pump basket, and pool filter.
- Check all of the hoses, connections, and swivels for leaks that could cause loss of water pressure.
The Polaris Quattro P40 Sport Cleaner does not climb walls.
Solution:
- Check the wheel RPM. Target wheel speed is 28-32 RPM. If wheel speed is not in target range, refer to Section 7 Adjust Wheel Speed.
- Ensure the hose is floating and the hose floats are positioned properly. Position the first float (k) up against the feed hose connector (j) and then space hose floats 1-3 ft (30-90 cm) apart.
- Check for debris in the filter canister and clean, if necessary.
- Adjust the thrust jet. Refer to Section 8 Fine Tuning.
- For smooth surface pools (tile, fiberglass, etc.), replace both rear tires with PosiTrax® tires for more traction (available from a Polaris® dealer).

Right side wheels stopped working, worn brushes, didn’t climb walls.
Replaced all warn out rubber and gear box. All 4 wheels work now, but it does not have traction to climb walls. All 4 wheels spinning, but unable to move up. The sweeper eventually turns (right side wheels reverse) and it starts moving away. Repeats.
My Polaris Quattro sport will move forward and then reverse but not return to a forward motion. Something is wrong with the gears but which ones?
My Polaris stopped moving, I looked on line for trouble shooting tips, really really helpful and the fact that the parts are all modular made it very easy to troubleshoot.
I cleaned everything that needed to be cleaned all gears were working fine, but still no movement, the problem was on the main RO837200 main engine module water port/jet into the turbine.
Attached to the side is the water inlet ( main hose inlet ) 4 screws, there are two white plastic tabs attached, one top one bottom, remove this part, the top white tab is the water jet that turns the turbine/gears. This port was clogged, I cleared the blockage and then blew it through. Putting everything back together my Polaris is now working perfectly.
