How to Use the Dolphin Active 30 Dolphin Pool Cleaner

Using the Dolphin Active 30 pool cleaner effectively involves several steps, from setup to operation and maintenance. This guide provides detailed, step-by-step instructions to ensure you get the best performance from your pool cleaner.

Step 1: Preparation Before Use

  1. Read the Manual: Familiarize yourself with the user manual to understand the features and specifications of the Dolphin Active 30.
  2. Inspect the Pool: Before using the cleaner, check the pool for large debris, such as leaves or branches, that may obstruct the cleaner’s operation.

Step 2: Setting Up the Power Supply

  1. Position the Power Supply: Place the power supply unit near the pool, ensuring it is at least 3.5 meters (12 feet) away from the pool edge. This positioning allows the cleaner to reach all areas of the pool effectively.
  2. Unwind the Cable: Carefully unwind the floating cable, ensuring it is free of kinks or tangles. Stretch it out completely to prevent any obstructions during operation.

Step 3: Connecting the Cleaner

  1. Attach the Floating Cable: Insert the floating cable from the Dolphin Active 30 into the power supply unit. Ensure the connection is secure.
  2. Plug in the Power Supply: Connect the power supply to a power outlet. Ensure the power supply is in the OFF position before plugging it in.

Step 4: Preparing the Pool Cleaner

  1. Check the Filter Basket: Open the filter cover and inspect the filter basket. Clean it if necessary to ensure optimal suction and performance.
  2. Inspect the Impeller: Unplug the power supply before servicing. Dismantle the impeller cover and check for any debris trapped around the impeller. Clean it if needed to prevent blockages.

Step 5: Operating the Dolphin Active 30

  1. Place the Cleaner in the Pool: Carefully lower the Dolphin Active 30 into the pool, allowing it to sink to the bottom. Ensure the floating cable is free of any obstructions.
  2. Turn On the Power Supply: Switch the power supply ON. The Dolphin Active 30 will begin its cleaning cycle automatically, moving around the pool to clean the surfaces.

Step 6: Monitoring the Cleaning Process

  1. Observe the Cleaner: Keep an eye on the Dolphin Active 30 as it operates. Ensure it is moving freely and not getting stuck on any obstacles.
  2. Adjust as Necessary: If the cleaner is not reaching certain areas of the pool, consider repositioning the power supply or checking the cable for slack.

Step 7: Completing the Cleaning Cycle

  1. End of Cycle: The Dolphin Active 30 will automatically stop after completing its cleaning cycle. This typically takes about 1.5 to 2 hours, depending on the pool size and level of debris.
  2. Turn Off the Power Supply: Once the cleaning cycle is complete, turn off the power supply and unplug it from the outlet.

Step 8: Removing the Cleaner

  1. Retrieve the Cleaner: Carefully pull the Dolphin Active 30 out of the pool by the floating cable. Avoid yanking or pulling on the cable to prevent damage.
  2. Inspect for Debris: Check the cleaner for any debris that may have accumulated during the cleaning process.

Step 9: Post-Cleaning Maintenance

  1. Clean the Filter Basket: Open the filter cover and remove the filter basket. Rinse it thoroughly with a hose to remove any trapped debris.
  2. Check the Impeller Again: Inspect the impeller for any remaining debris and clean it as necessary.
  3. Store the Cleaner Properly: Coil the floating cable and store the Dolphin Active 30 in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and harsh weather conditions.

Step 10: Regular Maintenance

  1. Routine Checks: Regularly check the filter basket and impeller for debris after each use to maintain optimal performance.

What Should I Check First If My Dolphin Active 30 Stops Working?

If your Dolphin Active 30 stops working, the first step is to check the power supply. Ensure it is plugged in and turned on. Look for indicator lights; a flashing green light may indicate a connection issue with your Wi-Fi network. If the power supply appears to be functioning, inspect the blue floating cable for any damage or kinks that could disrupt power. Additionally, ensure that the cable is not obstructed when the cleaner is in the water. If everything seems in order, try resetting the power supply by unplugging it for a few minutes before plugging it back in. This simple step can often resolve minor operational issues.

How Can I Identify Blockages in My Dolphin Active 30?

To identify blockages in your Dolphin Active 30, start by removing the cleaner from the pool. Inspect the filter basket for debris, as a clogged filter can significantly hinder performance. Open the filter cover and lift out the basket to check for any accumulated dirt or leaves. Additionally, examine the impeller and impeller cover for any obstructions that may be preventing it from spinning freely. If you find any debris, carefully remove it to restore proper function. Regularly checking for blockages is essential for maintaining optimal cleaning performance and prolonging the life of your pool cleaner.

What Steps Should I Follow to Reset My Dolphin Active 30?

To reset your Dolphin Active 30, begin by unplugging the power supply from the electrical outlet. Wait for about five minutes to allow the system to fully reset. After the waiting period, plug the power supply back in and ensure it is turned on. Check the indicator lights to confirm that the power supply is functioning correctly. If you are using the MyDolphin™ Plus app, you may also need to reconnect the cleaner to the app following the app’s instructions. This reset process can help resolve minor glitches and restore normal operation to your pool cleaner.

How Do I Connect My Dolphin Active 30 to the MyDolphin™ Plus App?

To connect your Dolphin Active 30 to the MyDolphin™ Plus app, first ensure that the pool cleaner is connected to the power supply and placed in the water. Activate the app on your mobile device and grant the necessary permissions. You can either scan the QR code located on the power supply or manually search for your robot within the app. Once the app starts pairing with your cleaner, wait for the connectivity LED light to turn steady blue, indicating a successful connection. Finally, connect to your home Wi-Fi network by entering the password, and wait for a confirmation message in the app.

What Maintenance Should I Perform on My Dolphin Active 30?

Regular maintenance is crucial for keeping your Dolphin Active 30 in optimal working condition. After each use, remove and clean the dual filter basket to prevent clogging. Open the filter cover, lift out the basket, and rinse it with a hose to remove debris. Additionally, periodically check the impeller for any trapped debris that could affect performance. It’s also advisable to inspect the cable for any signs of wear or damage. Before storing the cleaner for the off-season, ensure it is clean and dry to prevent mold or mildew buildup. Following these maintenance steps will enhance the longevity and efficiency of your pool cleaner.

What Should I Do If My Dolphin Active 30 Is Not Cleaning Effectively?

If your Dolphin Active 30 is not cleaning effectively, start by checking the filter basket for clogs. A clogged filter can prevent the cleaner from picking up debris efficiently. Remove the basket, clean it thoroughly, and ensure it is properly reinstalled. Next, inspect the impeller and impeller cover for any blockages that may hinder movement. Additionally, verify that the power supply is positioned correctly, allowing the cleaner to reach all areas of the pool. Dolphin Active 30 Help

Need help resolving issues with your Dolphin Pool Cleaner? Post your Question Below.
  1. I finally just called the company Maytronics Dolphin for some insight on how to repair my power supply for my “Active 30 “ robot pool cleaner. I asked for the tech. Department , the lady said she was the technical department .

So I proceeded to tell her the problem I was having with the robot.
I told her it runs in the pool for 5 mins. Then shuts down. The power supply gets a red haze around the power circle on the power supply.

I shut the unit off and unplug the cable to the robot in the pool . Then plug my multi meter into the P.S. and test the voltage right out of the P.S. and it 17.0 volts.
It’s supposed to be 29 volts out of the supply. So I wait 10 mins. And test again and now I’m getting the 29.0 volts, that’s what I should have. So the lady just told me to throw the P.S. away and to buy a new one for $300 , are you kidding me . Doesn’t anyone fix anything anymore. She said they just throw them away and by new. What a rip-off. She’s the technical department, my butt ! This company is running some scam. The supply properly cost around $25 or less to make, and they charging you $275.00 . I’m done with Maytronics Dolphin.
