Shark Vacuum Cleaner Troubleshooting

If you are having problems with your Shark Vacuum Cleaner, you are not alone. Many Shark Vacuum Cleaner owners experience issues with their vacuum cleaner from time to time, and it can be frustrating to deal with these problems.

I have problems with my Shark Vacuum Cleaner
  1. bought a used dust cup for my ZU561 shark because old one plastic cracked.
The used dust cup has a protrusion in bottom of the dust cup that goes into slot by filter. But will not enter because the slot has two black pins that does not let the protrusion enter into the slot.

  2. bought a new dust cup and it does not fit. The bottom part of the dust cup has a protusion but the vacuum has two black pins maybe 1/8″ diameter where this protrusion should be able to insert into.

  3. CH951 works fine but when I insert the motorized brush, it works for 2 seconds and it turns itself off with blinking light. I checked the motorized brush and it’s clean; there is no obstruction and the brush itself spins so I know it isn’t blocked. Yet the vacuum turns off after 2-3 seconds. If I remove the motorized brush, the vacuum works fine.

  4. While charging all three LEDs blinks.
I followed the instructions, still the Vacuum System is not turning ON.
    – Remove the vacuum from the charger.
    – Remove the battery from the handvac then put it back in ensuring it is fully connected.
    – Put the unit back on the charger

  7. Well as I kid I was obsessed with “The Brave Little Toaster.” Well that being said I was so tremendously attached to my shark NV831. It was the first vacuum that did it’s job. It was a gift from my father, and I was so excited that I actually had a vacuum that worked from years of using quantity vacuums, not quality. Won’t name any names but now it looks like I could open up a shark parts store, and the green light still Will not turn on. I’m so bummed out. It was probably broken by one of my children, or from years and years of use. I’ll never know.

  9. We cleaned the unit, including all filters and all are free of debris and look clean. But the main unit dust cup still has a very bad smell which appears to be coming from the blue section that can’t be opened up. How can we address this? When operating the unit, it emits the rotten smell.

  11. I have a Shark Model IZ540H. I fully charged the battery. I used it and when it fully discharged. I tried to re-charge, but when I plug the charger in to the battery – the green light will come on for a few seconds and then go out. It will not charge the battery. If you press the power button, the battery will flash red for a few seconds and then go out.

I bought another battery and it does the same thing.

Please help. I paid over $200 for this and it will not work. Buying batteries are very expensive.

  13. Is anyone else experiencing this issue?
Recently purchased and happy with the design, but now having the issue of little to no suction at the floor or roller, and unit will indeed heat up and auto shut down after a fairly short time.
Also, now, when I turn it on, after a few seconds a low shriek starts, which can be stopped by lightly touching my finger over the little rectangular hole on the right side? Remove my finger and the noise starts again.
The filters are clean and there is no blockage found anywhere. Note: There is plenty of suction at the underside of the pod when removed from the floor attachment.

  25. My Shark SV780 runs fine with out the brush attachment and will run with the attachment until the brush hits the floor, or a rug. then it shuts off. I’ve taken it apart and cleaned everything and made sure the brush is in there correctly and rotates in the right direction. It works fine without the brush and picks up well.

    Thank you in advance.

    • It might be the power board. Its located on the switch. Also might be your charger. If the battery is old it also might be that. Unfortunately the board is no easy to find. You can buy the same model and try to figure out what is the problem. Find someone that can open it up and swap parts etc. I cant do that my parts are from diferent models that look the same. Hopefully you know someone that can open it up and tgive you a better idea on what doesnt work.

  32. The motorized brush has quit rotating. It makes solid contact with the electrical contacts. Is there anything else that I need to check before ordering a new brush?

    • Your board might not be sending power to the brush. Check the power from the conection. Get a voltmeter from walmart. If it works. Then check the motor it might not be spining. If it is then it might be the belt. Ooen it up and check the belt and motor. You might need to replace the motor

    • It might be the power board. Its located on the switch. Also might be your charger it has to be the one for that model. If the battery is old it also might not hold charge. I have the same issue. I need to trouble shoot the powerboard and maybe the capacitor on the motor.

    • Hey i have the same issue and oppened it up. I believe it might be the circuit board that receives the power. Its located on the button. So it might have been damaged throut impact or other reason. Can cause the capacitor or something else to damage the board. Im trying to find one for myself or at least resolder new parts. I have 3 same style diferent models and they all have diferent voltage requirments. They all have their own issues. On powersyp than shuts off. Another doesnt start and has a new battery. And another one i need a new batery and charger. I think your best bet is buy8ng a new one and donate the parts. Or wait until you can find the parts.
